Today marks the day our flight from Toronto International Airport (Pearson, Terminal 3) landed in Helsinki, Finland, and then after a brief stopover, we got into a turbo pro airliner, and completed our journey to Riga, Latvia. And what a journey it was.
It began the previous 27 March 2012, when we were holding a house fellowship meeting in our basement. We had Jesus Culture’s Awekening event streaming video on our projector screen, and playing in surround sound, with Reinhard Bonke, the German evangelist speaking. He spoke and challenged all of us in that basement. All of us stood up and took the challenge to go where the Lord wanted us to go on short term missions. Little did I realize how that would quickly change our lives.
Less than 24 hrs later Lori, my wife, gets an email update with a last day to register notice from The New Mystics, for a short term mission trip to Eastern Europe. Lori and I registered and paid our down payment, and here were, booked for the trip to Eastern Europe, The Happy Cosmonaut Tour, with John Crowder. Little did we know there would be 25 of us from Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, England, Switzerland, who would be the International Ministry Team on this trip.
That April, 2012, John Crowder came and facilitated and led a Mystical School, in London, Ontario, just about a hour down the road from where we live in Waterloo. So, Lori and I registered and we went down for the weekend when John was down and we took part in the Mystical School, and met some folks who were also going to be going on the trip, and while we were there we got John to do an ad lib infomercial for us so we could tell our friends and solicit their support and prayers.
Today marks the day, 11 July, that we departed from Toronto, via Helsinki, to arrive in Riga, Latvia. What an incredible journey.

Later that day night, Lori and I had a meal, and met some of our fellow Happy Cosmonauts.
