Emerging Peacemaking

EMERGING VALUES ~ PEACEMAKING

We value standing in the gap for those who cannot stand by themselves.  We will speak up for those whose voices have been silenced by oppressors.  We stand in the gap, in the same fashion that Jesus stands for those who are oppressed in need of deliverance and freedom, who  reaches out establishing peace and reconciliation between those in enmity between themselves and God as well as at enmity between themselves and other people.

Peacemaking is not peacekeeping, but the living out and creation of peace through dialog and interaction, as well as confrontation and reconciliation through respect, and mutual respect, and a commitment to not cease from being advocates for peace and understanding.

Peacemaking means taking risks on behalf of those who have little left to lose, who have no voice, and no advocacy on their behalf.  This involves resisting oppression in all its forms, at times risking personal liberty, as well as at time risking our lives on behalf of others.
